Swami ji explains that the decisions we make are the nodal points in our life. We have made decisions in our life because of which we are what we are today. Students are making decisions today which will influence where they will find themselves after many years. That is why these decisions are so important – these are the choices that we make. The choices we make depend on the VALUES that we install within ourselves.

Our intellect accords different value to different things. How much value do you accord to your health? How much value do you accord to your family? And professional success? And to your inner growth? – that is how we divide time between these things. So, it is very important that we install within ourselves solid good values.

And how do you tweak the value system within yourself?

Values depend on the BELIEFS we hold. If someone’s belief is that money is the basis of happiness – the value for money in that person’s system will be very high. These beliefs are happening to us all the time. For example, if you associate with drunkard friends, you will receive the belief that the bottle is the way to happiness.
Swamiji says, that he was blessed that he received this divine knowledge while pursuing his MBA. Swamiji came to this source of wonderful knowledge that convinced him that the most important thing for happiness is one’s own inner self. In other words, Swamiji accorded the highest priority to his own inner yearning – to the extent that he felt that this is the MOST important thing for success in life. That belief created the value and a corresponding decision was made. And the decision Swami ji made was for his own spiritual quest AND to serve others / humanity on this path. That is why and how he made this choice.
