EverWeb Site Shield Add-on with Enhanced Security Features!
Website Security without the Fuss! That’s EverWeb Site Shield Addon!

Web search giants, such as Google and Microsoft, encourage website developers to encrypt all data that is transmitted between their website’s host servers and the end user’s browser window.

Data encryption is important as it provides a safe, secure way for transmitting data across the internet to any device your website visitors may be using.

This is especially true for internet based financial transactions
such as web shopping carts, or where confidential data, such as medical information, is involved.

EverWeb Site Shield is the simple, easy, way to keep your website secure through end to end data encryption - all it takes is just a few mouse clicks.

There is no complicated set up as EverWeb does all the hard work behind the scenes!

As well as helping secure your site’s online data transmissions, Site Shield Addon is great for your SEO Rankings as Google gives data encrypted websites a ranking boost over non-secure websites.

EverWeb Site Shield is available to anyone using EverWeb version 2.4 or higher (EverWeb 3.6 or higher is recommended) together with an EverWeb + Hosting plan. If you have a 10GB, or higher, plan EverWeb Site Shield is absolutely free.

To use EverWeb Site Shield Addon, open your Project file and go to the Site Publishing Settings.

Check the “Use HTTPS Secure URLs” box.

If you have not already purchased Site Shield Addon, a dialog box will appear which will enable you to do so.

If you have already purchased Site Shield Addon, just publish your Entire Website using the File, Publish Entire Site menu. That’s all you need to do!

Once your website has been published click on the “View Website Now” button.

In your browser search bar, your website’s URL now uses HTTPS instead of HTTP.

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, and HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP. The ’S’ at the end of the prefix means that any communication between the EverWeb Server hosting your website and your visitors browser windows is encrypted.

Some web browsers only show you the short form of a web page’s URL. If you don’t see the HTTPS prefix, click in the browser search box to see the full URL displayed.

The second thing to notice is that there may be a padlock symbol next to the website URL. This symbol acts a visual indicator that an HTTPS connection is in place and active.

If you are using EverWeb 3.6 or higher, you can further enhance your your site’s security using Site Shield Add-on’s Advanced options.

In your project’s Site Publishing Settings, click on the Advanced… button next to the “Use HTTPS Secure URLs” checkbox.

A dialog box will appear with six settings. Click on the ‘Enable Enhanced Website Security’ checkbox to activate the settings.

The first three options in the first section are enabled, helping you stop third party sites embedding your website within them, helping prevent malicious scripts being run on your site, and securing your site on older browsers.

The last option may stop data from being seen by website stats software, but it is recommended to use as it helps protect visitor data if the secure HTTPS protocol switches to a non-secure HTTP protocol.

The final two options are also not enabled as they can affect website loading when enabled.

The Content Security Policy option blocks access to resources that your visitors don’t need access to and the HTTPS Strict Transport Security option will stop your website working if its HTTPS certificate is removed or if you have non secure URLs on your site, your visitor will be warned that their web browser should not be able to access any resource that is not over HTTPS.

For the most secure website, we recommend all options are checked.
