All The Things Left Unsaid

I lost a mentor, and a friend. The bicycle world as a whole lost a tremendous resource. And it just plain sucks.

Let’s all just imagine that the music represents Tommy in the background of all things Chris. Not forgotten, but a sweet melody instead of a voice…

I like the music but the content is better. Music or no still a great channel. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I don't hear music after the intro. Maybe some differences between devices? Regarding mentoring, at some point we've all been mentored, & it's time to pass along those lessons to someone younger who'll appreciate them.

Keep the music!! It's your signature move on these videos

Sorry about your loss and appreciate you taking the time to honor him. Don’t change a thing! If people don’t like it don’t watch! Life is too short to get ones underwear in a bind about your music choices or opinions, I find it refreshing and you honor your late friend with your knowledge and sharing your love of cycling

I like simplicity in design and will often choose something with canti mounts, but no doubt better braking exists with discs. The cool thing with discs is swapping to a different wheel /tire size if the frame supports of course. If you were in Grant’s will, you’re not anymore after that rim brake comment 😂.
I can get distracted by stuff going on in the background like a running video or
music, but I never noticed on yours. So I guess that’s kudos for good production work. I always thought your intro and outro were just right. The content is what I’m here for. Don’t change it unless YOU feel it’s time for a change. It’s your show. Sorry for your loss Chris.

1) I've posted a couple of snarky-ass comments; I apologize for anything that may have hurt. 2) Music? Do it or no; no strong preference either way (I low-key like it, though). 3) Mentors: I'm at an age where they've been dying or are dead. It sucks. But there are younger people who apparently see ME as a mentor; I suspect the same is true for you. Enjoy those relationships, and fertilize them. Thanks for today's video. Ride your bike, play good music, do good work (remember that your work and what you get paid for may not be the same). I hope something good has happened to you today.

I like the music…very tasteful WITHOUT being…bad🤣. This week I still like disc brakes! Tommy, this ride’s for YOU!

I vote no on music when you're speaking. Music is a good for an intro. But I love your channel and content!!!

Music? I can't hear it, Chris. Minus two here this AM, snow on the ground. I try to remember to say that thing I'll regret not saying. God knows you can regret not saying it for a long time.

Music was fine (also great choices). And I'd never want to use rim brakes again.

So sorry to hear about his passing. I will ride for Tommy today. Tomorrow I will ride in appreciation for you. I personally never found the music distracting and I dig the choices you make. It may just be me but I’m as entertained by the shirt choices as the musc. Your shirt game is strong! We both have the Surly shirt with the girl on a tricycle. My buddy Matt got me that one. For my birthday I think. He just recently bought some things from you.
A very wise man once said, ”We are not promised tomorrow.”
I hope we all make out time here a blessing to others as well as ourselves.
Peace

My tinnitus is so loud I can't even hear the music, so it's fine for me. I'm so sorry for your loss; we're at that age when we are losing friends, until it's our turn. {{hugs}}

So sorry for your loss. I remember him. Although he seemed on the quiet side, he was always nice to me when I came into your store.
BTW, music is fine with me.

As a creator, you are at some level creating art. As soon as you do, people will have opinions about it. In the end you should trust your creative gut and take those opinions with a grain of salt. I’ve got no problem with the music, but hey, I’m a musician, that’s my two cents 😊.

I prefer rim brakes for their simplicity. That said I understand their limitations and I recognize the benefits disc brakes have over them. I have no problem with people preferring disc brakes, but do I wish there were more rim brake options out there. It'd be cool to see steel frames offered with detachable brake (rim) lugs like we have in BMX.

The music is fine, I barely notice it and I love your format and the fact that you shoot from the hip. There are always people who will find something to complain about, I wouldn't worry about it.

Lastly, I'm truly sorry for your loss Chris. In regard to the things unsaid, I think it's likely your friend recognized some of those things for himself. Love and respect are felt. I'm sure he thought of you in a similar way. That said, I hope you recognize the impact you have on the cycling community. You've said things that have changed the way I think about riding in a meaningful way. I hope you know you're greatly appreciated and I wish you comfort in your time of loss. - Dustin

The question of being valued by a cycling community after moving on - I get that. And have watched your experience turned to this venture with hope - still do.
Not offended music.
RIP Tommy

While your music, at the level you have doesn't bother me necessarily, I'm always going to prefer videos without any music. So no vote on the music from me.
Even though it's currently 18° and snowing, I'll ride my fat tire bike for Tommy today.
