IKEA Stove XL - Review and boiling test

by STOVE MODS

In this Video you see another stove made of an IKEA cutlery caddy which is bigger than the one I showed you before.

I cut out a hatch to be able to feed the fire and screwed some aluminum legs on it and created a tripod this way.

This diy hobo stove performed quite well in the boiling test but it came to my attention that the bigger distance between the fire bed and the pot combined with all the holes in the stove are not ideal because the heat can leave the burning chamber to the side. Thus it is better to always have enough wood in the stove.

This is a classic IKEA hack.

It is smoking a bit because you have blocked its flue. With a pot holder rack on top, you could probably boil as fast with less wood/smaller fire

Just a suggestion, if you cover your pot, you will get a faster boil!

Ur creation is wonderful. But may I suggest, flames r coming out, less wood required, :::: top is blocked, little gap allaround(1/2 inch) necessary :::care to b taken to converge radiation heat to the cooking pot for more efficiency.no holes for 1/3 rd ht from top.Thnks for sharing.

you need to provide support for the pot so that the flame exits at the bottom of the pot .
