since i decided to listen to the teens of style version first, listening to this for the first time was like a jumpscare because i didnt expect his voice to sound like that

"I used to enjoy being worried, but now everything is fine" hits so hard. I've been depressed for years and finally started on some meds. The fact that i am not sad anymore makes me feel some kind of weird emptyness and i keep looking for that familiar feeling of desolation. It's terrible. I could never describe it as well as Will Toledo.

since people keep noting he sounds younger here:

oh starving is actually somewhat old, a bit older than the album it's on (3) and at the time will wasn't as good at singing

it was initially intended for "stabbey ode", a scrapped album which would "make loops out of songs in abbey road by the Beatles, reverse the loops, make songs around them, then remove the loops" or something along these lines. it got scrapped though and while most other songs from it went to Little Pieces Of Paper With "No" Written On Them with other scrapped stuff, but this one ended up on 3 as the closing track

if I remember correctly, 3 released around late 2010 and stabbey ode was being worked on a lot earlier that year, which is when his prior project before car seat headrest (nervous young men) ended and during all of that his singing was pathetic so yeah the reason he sounds young here is just because he hadn't gotten to fully improving his singing

this is more like an inconcise infodump about 3 and oh starving but whatever
