I remember dandi March being taught in school but no wonder they didn't teach us abt these things because we still tie a woman's dignity to her body. And that bodily autonomy is still under control of men.

Wow. Sarojini Naidu and Kamaladevi Chattopadhaya were more badass than today's women. Even more than today's society can digest. Salute to these ladies

As soon as it was associated with woman's dignity is has always been clowded through. Because apparently a woman's dignity was tied up with their clothes, even by the standard of men we have been taught are father of our society

We know so much about people and about social mores by looking into small snippets of history like this

I think Gandhi was a flawed person and he has been glorified way too much

Gandhi had a very sexist outlook towards women. And even he was a casteist. His records from south africa tells he was racist too.
The leaders that amused me the most were Babasaheb and Subhas Chandra Bose.
Subhas Chandra Bose's ideas towards women feels like he never bothered about gender, caste, religion or anything. For him a soldier is a soldier.

I feel so sorry for the women who were a part of freedom struggle! It’s coz of them we are having a better life now! This was feminism not the ones which we are seeing today!

Wait... How did we half-wittedly assume that the "straight-jacketed understanding of women" was limited to the _upper-caste_ in those times?? Btw, Gandhi was neither upper caste nor lower caste by the standards of those days!

Someone said Gandhiji is being sexist or casteist in this specific episode but how?

But not every woman was not mentally strong like Sarojini kamladevi. Perhaps it was humiliating for them. It shows how badass they were but this fact doesn't point toward Gandhi Ji being upper cast sexist male. I mean come on we all can praise one without being insulting towards another.

As a technician/mechanic I can confirm there are many single women who are desperate to find someone who can help them take care of their car. 😂
