Welcome to OUR BOAT YARD! | Sailing Soulianis - Ep. 119

What’s the best thing about having a trailerable boat so far? Working on it in OUR OWN YARD. Having access to all our tools, being able to make a mess in the boat and not worry about cleaning it up before dinner or going to bed, letting Renata run amok — it’s THE BEST.

We’re itching to launch, but have a laundry list of projects to complete. With a little babysitting help from Kirk’s parents, we’re able to knock off the to-do items, and get the boat ready to hit the water.

Hope you enjoy!
Lauren, Kirk & Renata

F27 owner / racer here, I know that all the 31's we race have a link bar between their rudder and outboard so that they steer together and stay apart - something I would defiantly recommend. Great work guys

Wait until you get a camper port with lights you can park your boat under!!!! Awesome vid. My wife and I enjoy watching your vids and dreaming of retirement sailing.

Your obviously enraptured care and interaction with your daughter from before she was born is giving us all (who are grandparents, at least) the most precious gift imaginable. Tune in for boat stuff and stay for the blossoming of a beloved genius. Even accounting for favorable editing you all are pretty special.

Renata is one smart little girl. I'm blown away with the big words she uses and pronounces.

With a mast that long, I would think you would need a higher, stronger wishbone (2 legged) shaped device in front of the mast step to raise the mast. It would not bend as easily. Also if you used your van and had a winch securely mounted on aft roof of van, and you cranking from there, you would have a better pulling angle. Just some thoughts especially if you are going to travel with this tri and will be raising the mast in remote places.

Oh, I loved your recipe for the orange cardamom balls. On the second go around I made a few additions. I added a little vanilla extract, a pinch of Cayenne pepper, and some almond flour, to stiffen it up. More healthy recipes please.

Laughing .... Lauren, we totally know that you are involved in getting the boat ready, loved the "I can see you are doing it wrong" section. Two brilliant minds are better than one ... bonus having a day off, bet it was almost like date night .. smilin .... love watching the progression in Renata's speech, your encouragement and interacting with her is totally paying off ... it was only a few times that I had to make use of Renata's subtitles you may have guessed, I love watching how kids evolve and their personalities blossom .. just too cool .... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, ust dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

If you had reached in for one of those cardamom balls….you would have lost digits….lol! Too cute.

I share your connection of weather radio to sailing. I will sometimes turn it on down at the boat just for the sound rather than the information. There is just something about the cadence that I love. Looking forward to launch day!

Great stuff guys. I'm a tradey but love having "'er indoors" along... Because she's often got good, useful stuff to input, proved in our own house refurb..She's also (annoyingly) right a great deal of the time...the only thing more annoying is getting it wrong when she's not on the job with me...😂😂😂 Great movie, bless you, thank you xx🤗🤗

I just love the “no stress zone” the way you confront problems are no problems … just a chip off the to-do list. I miss hearing the “quacking”….do you miss that 1-horsepower battery motor for maybe an inflatable launch? - Keith Carey

The consumption and negotiation of the Cardemom Balls was the best thing I will see all month! 🤗
The figurative laundry list! 😂😋😂
OMG, I can’t wait for Launch Day next episode, but thanks to the preview I am on the edge of me seat! Good luck!!!

The trailer winches with clutches are safer for taking the mast up and down. Lm makes them. It's great you will not have to hoist the big stich very often.
