I just read "Shadowlands" and loved it. The Welsh village being drowned was incredibly moving. Thanks as always, Bob, and I pleased you don't mind me coming back to these "old" videos and dropping comments.

I also was hooked on last year`s Wainright after I read Merlin Sheldrake and James Reebank. I really liked Otherlands on this year`s list and Goshawk summer will be in my postbox any day now. I used the Wainright guides to the fells in the lake district when I walked there as a teenager so it is very fitting that I read the books in honour of his memory!

I discovered this prize while visiting England a few years ago now and absolutely love it. So much so I have begun a project of reading ALL the short listed books since the beginning. I will finish Badgerland this weekend. Thanks for advancing this prize on your channel, Bob!

Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on all of these, Bob. I hadn't heard of any of them so it was a lovely run through the prize ☺

I have to read Shadowlands !! Thank you so much for describing these books…I have several on my TBR LIST, but Shadowlands will be first. Do you recall a novel that involves one of the “drowned cities” ?

I wouldn’t consider Otherlands to be nature writing :). It’s most definitely in the popular science category, which happens to make up the majority of my non-fiction reading. Anything to do with evolution, paleontology, paleoanthropology, the history of the planet in general is catnip for me ;).
