Jigna Rao Interview on TB

Показать описание
Jigna Rao is originally from Mumbai, India and is now living in the US. In 2006 she was diagnosed with Pelvic Tuberculosis, and she was forced to give up her life long dream of having the family she had always dreamed of with her husband. She states:
"I found that the stigma surrounding TB keeps it off radar and so I am committed to raising awareness about this disease through my personal story. I strongly believe that there is a need to organize a peer support group that connects TB patients within the US and around the world which will help alleviate the emotional isolation experienced by those affected by the disease and to create a more connected TB community. My goal is to show solidarity to those who are affected by TB, to encourage individuals to seek medical care if affected by TB, to increase the awareness of this disease within the medical community to ensure accurate and prompt diagnosis, and to advocate for policies that protect funding for TB programs in the U.S and around the world."
