About Foreign Fields:
Founding band-mates Brian Holl (guitar, vocals) and Eric Hillman (keys, guitar, vocals) changed their band's original name, Flights, over to Foreign Fields, when feelings they were trying to portray in their music began to take solid form. "It felt like a place, and that's what we try to do with our songs. We try to take you out of the real world a little bit and let you suspend your belief," said Holl in an interview

Lyrics:
You sat me down and told me
We'd be alright
You said we were the only
Good guys
That we carried the light
In our aching bodies
That we carried the light

Down…

And the ashes fall
On the children's faces
On their names and races
And here, at the end of time
You will find us waiting
On the seashore fading

I asked you if you'd leave me
You said you'd never go
But you lie there still
In your dying body
But you lie there still

Down…

And the ashes fall
On the children's faces
On their names and races
And here, at the end of time
You will find us waiting
On the seashore fading

We're still trying
We're still trying
We're still trying
We're still trying to live

When I retire from law enforcement in a couple years I know this will be the song I play as I begin my journey driving across the United States to where I plan to live out my retirement.

This song somehow reminds me of my father when he was struggling and suffering from his lung cancer. This song brings up those last few monthes of memories with my father when he told me and my brother that everything is fine, and any path we take throughout our lives will eventually lead us to where we aim. As written in song, “We’re still trying”. Thanks for the great song, a lot of thanks from Korea.

I cried when I heard this. I dont understand why. This just really brought to me a spiritual feeling deep inside. I am crying right now, but in a good way. I hate it, but I love it. This is true beauty

Apparently this song talks about lives lost in wars.

People who asked their relatives if they would survive, and in the end, they ended up leaving, and from a spiritual point of view they say:

"You will find us waiting
On the seashore fading"

I've lost count how many times i have listened to this but it continues to become more beautiful with each play. This is an even more complete version than that on the album. Truly stunning work boys. Thank you.
