Hmm...funny how when you speak about Siberia we are shown people from Africa, last time I heard Siberia is in Russia. 😎The reason you get such sink holes are oftentimes due to man, us humans, if you keep mining gas and oil, eventually the Earth crust will collapse on itself, it becomes like puncture wounds where there once might have been other matter, like gas, oil or something else but eroded because of extraction of matter elsewhere. A bit like if we would take tissue from one part of our body, it would leave a hole, and your skin would never look the same. It is kind of how it works. The location can be miles away from any actual gas or oil extraction. When it collapses like this and if gas is involved it will implode, and the mass will make a sound from the collapse, depending on what rock is cracking. Either that or it was one giant missile fired and this is the result. When you do mining, it will affect the surrounding areas, any mining company saying different are letting the dollar sign speak. Especially if you use explosives, it will change the crust and Earth underneath, depending on what stone, or mass is in the ground. The locals in Chile are right to be worried and they should be listened to. It will not end well if the mining company don't stop over-exploiting the place. All mining companies like Bingham copper mine and the likes should actually be stopped and there need to be a plan in place for what to do with the environment when it is closed. We need to take care of the planet, not ruin her. x x
