UK travel writer Stuart Forster, the travel blogger behind the luxury travel blog Go Eat Do, travels to the Duddo Stone Circle in Northumberland, England.

Also known as the Duddo Five Stones and nicknamed 'The Singing Stones', sometimes even 'The Women', the neolithic monument is more than 4000 years old.

The ancient monument is on farmland about 8.5 miles southwest of Berwick-upon-Tweed and approximately three miles south of the River Tweed, the England-Scotland border. A permissive footpath runs about half a mile through fields to the Duddo Stones.

The Duddo Standing Stones have an air of mystery about them. I found them worthwhile visiting during one of my days in north Northumberland. As a lover of British history, I rate visiting this historic site among the top things to do in Northumberland.

The stone circle offers views into Scotland and towards the Cheviot Hills.

Thinking of visiting? Park on the verge near the gate that leads into the field and stay on the footpath that leads to the Dudd0 5 Stones.
