McDonald's and Hatsune Miku Official Collaboration Video

Показать описание
In February 2025, McDonald's Japan announced a special collaboration with a post on X (formerly Twitter) showing a silhouette of what was very obviously Hatsune Miku. It was no surprise to fans just a day later when McDonald's posted a clean image of Miku to announce the collaboration between their "Shaka Shaka" fries and Hatsune Miku, joking that it would not involve anything green onion-flavored -- a nod to the food item most commonly associated with Miku. Instead, the collaboration will see McDonald's Japan featuring its new "Shaka Shaka" flavors, as well as a new potato fries and chicken nuggets ("nage").
"Shaka Shaka" fries are a popular menu item in Japan (the name comes from the onomatopoeia of shaking the bag), consisting of an extra packet of flavored seasoning and a specific bag for the fries. Customers are meant to add the flavor mix to the bag with the fries and shake it to cover the fries in the chosen flavor. The two new flavors are Nori Salt and Garlic Black Pepper Mayo, both of which were released ahead of the Hatsune Miku collaboration on Feb. 26. The new "Potato Nage" set includes both fries and nuggets and will be available in both Large and Extra-Large sizes.
March 9 has been considered Miku Day for many years thanks to the pun derived from the date's Japanese pronunciation. Specifically, "three" and "nine" can be pronounced separately as "mi" and "ku," but also together for the date as "san-kyuu." Together, this can be read as "sankyuu miku," or "Thank you, Miku." The day typically leads to an outpouring of fan art and social media posts, while in Japan, many retailers regularly take part with more official collaborations. The performance and model for the new McDonald's promotional campaign look very similar to those seen in the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA video game series, developed by Sega and Crypton Future Media; the most recent release for the game was Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix+ in 2022.
