For those lamenting the loss of the "station wagon" look - have you ever seen the wagons of the 50"s - 60"s - 70"s - etc.? I grew up with those huge boxes on wheels. As a current Outback and Ascent owner I' am willing to wait and see what the actual finished design is before deciding.

I think Subaru will merge the Outback and Ascent, while the Ascent badge will be reused for a future EV model. This is because the Ascent is not selling well, and the Outback is not big enough for big families.

Front end design looks like they hired some folks from Stellantis. Pontiac Aztec and Jeep Cherokee. Its a fail in my opinion. Name should change to Out&Back [from the grocery store]. Theyve gone away from what the platform is supposed to be.

It looks as though the doors seem to 'wrap' over the lower sill of the car, similar I believe to the Ascent which we do not have here in the UK. If they do wrap over the sill, then that is a nice upgrade. It does save the back of mens' trousers getting dirty if the car itself is not clean, which is annoying on my current 2016 Outback. It looks a bit 'boxy' in my opinion. There are plenty of computer generated images of what the 'new' Outback could look like, and some of those images make it look really desirable. I like my Outback, but I'm not too sure about this new style if indeed this is going to be the finished product. See what happens in the next year or two.
