Ok two issues that strike me as a non American Presbyterian (grew up in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland). 1) Presbyterianism is a representative form of Church Government and yet you (Matthew) chose not to attend and therefore did not represent your congregation in Assembly. Would you care to comment? 2) the 'Overtures Committee' "cleans up" overtures to be presented to the Assembly for consideration. Does the OC present the 'cleaned up' overture back to the originating body (presumably a Presbytery) for approval? If not how do they (or the originating body) know that the paraphrased overture retains all the meaning and nuance intended by the originators?
