The United Methodist Church had its conference where members voted 692-51 to remove the rule forbidding “self-avowed practicing homosexuals” from being ordained or appointed. This vote doesn’t MANDATE or AFFIRM homosexual clergy members, but the church no longer forbids them. Is this the right call?

I used to belong to be a member and deacon of a United Methodist Church where I lived and at the time this was inconceivable. I later attended a Presbyterian church. After my most recent move, I began looking for a church as was so disheartened by all the chaos both in the Presbyterian and Methodist churches. After some prayer and searching, I found a Methodist church who already broke away from the UMC and was independent. Just recently, they voted to join the Global Methodist Church and their values more closely align with traditional values.

Out of all the woke nonsense, this is the one that brings out the righteous anger in me the most. My husband's family built the Methodist church in the community we grew up in, back in the late 1800's. That church, and the accompanying cemetery, carries the family name and is still attended by most of his family who lives in the area to this day. His ancestors are ROLLING OVER IN THEIR GRAVES right now. 🤬🤬🤬

This makes me sad. My grandfather was a Methodist minister for about 50 years & even still led the Protestant services in his nursing home when he had Alzheimers. He went to seminary school at Duke University right after the war, when he got home. He wasn't in combat during the war. He was actually an instructor for the Army Air Corp & worked on the radio equipment, I believe. When he graduated from the seminary, he had a wife & 2 kids. He never used a microphone. He had a booming voice that reached to the back of every church he preached at. He was a Christian, so he wouldn't hate these people, but I'm sure he would be very sad about the path that the Methodist church has chosen.

Im still stunned how some churches can claim to preach the word of God but just sweep Leviticus 18 and many references of the Apostle Paul under the rug. You either follow the gospel or you don't. Yes, we all sin, and nobody is perfect, but to just ignore the fact that the Lord called homosexuality an abomination(!) in Lev. 18:22 and preach that it is ok? Nah...makes no sense to me.
