My Experience Studying for a Physics degree

Answering some questions I have been asked about doing a physics degree.
This is the first time I have done a casual 'vlog', and I wanted it to be quite conversational. I hope you enjoy, and feedback is always welcome :)

Sweet! Planning on attending uni in California and major in Physics. Grew up in awe for physics and astronomy because of documentaries so I resonated when you mentioned the "good PR campaign" when you spoke about your interest in astronomy as well! Hahah

I'm a student studying various science and mathematics at my local community college. I didn't try to do well in high school (just a general lack of interest in everything I suppose) but when I was 18, I found a job that had me working with engineers and I became extremely interested in engineering and eventually left that job to go back to school full time after working there for several years. I'm currently torn between Engineering Physics and Mechanical Engineering. I suppose if I don't get into OSU, I'll just have to go with ME. ME does seem safer. Maybe even minor in physics somewhere else. I guess I just wanted to say thanks for sharing though. I've felt a lot of doubt for several reasons with EP; like my chances of getting a job with this degree, am I even smart enough to handle these courses, will I actually know enough to get a gig after graduation, or am I just going to scrape by and basically know nothing useful by the time it's over. This kind of helped keep the magic of it alive, even with all of the doubt. Thanks!

I watched this video for the 3rd this day, I really felt as if you knew what I wanted to know and answered me regarding what I wanted to know. I love this, thank you.
I'm still undecided whether I'll do both math and physics or just physics, I'm not the most talented at math and I always feel like I need to do more than everyone else to perfect in a subject, but on the other side I enjoy the abstract thinking, despite it not coming naturally to me. luckily I still have time to decide :)
I know you talked about this in the video (I saw it 3 times lol) but can you reply in more detail on how you made the decision in whether doing both physics and math or just physics?
I'm really happy that this video was made.

I'm a little late watching this but I really enjoyed it. Thank you for being honest about your experience!

I cannot even express how glad I am to come across with your youtube channel. I´m about to start my degree in Astrophysics as an undergraduate and decided to study it because I had the feeling that physics is kinda the science that tries to explain our world and resolve those mysteries that keeps us going forward in life and science. Also, I have the doubt if it is actually the right choice, as I´m also really interested in CS or even biology (prob going try to take some astrobiology to figure out) and I have my creative side in music, which will try to develop too while I´m at uni. Some advice for this?
PS: I can really tell you´re a really special person and all the people that are watching your channel know it too. I wish you the best! :)

I was able to identify with most of what you said even though I'm better at math and even though I wasn't very social during my B.Sc. I know what it's like feeling like you're good enough and I also tend to procrastinate. I know what's it like going from being one of the best to simply average. I know what it's like to be amazed by something. I don't like to code though. And I'm certainly not very creative, but I was still able to relate. I guess I miss it a little, maybe.

the environment around u is really good for studying Physics and Maths, well and chemistry and biology as well, it kind of mimics the environment people used to have before urbanization!

As a third year student studying physics in Canada, I was able to identify with your experience... :) thanks for making the video!

You are able to show your studies developing you in your videos

A high school student here.
Documentaries and Youtube videos make me, too, want to study physics (I never liked it too much in school and I never attended completitions), but I'm worried how that will affect my finances in the future, as I have quite high ambitions :/

"The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there." J L Hartley
It's always now, but Everything is connected, so if "The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step" proverb is how you approach the future, then you have to recall the thoughts of the past Scientists, (methodology and evidence, "taking no one's word for it" covers all the labelled fields), and translate their language into current vernacular, before taking the next step, as if they/you were here-now.

Because we always have individual responsibility for the collective thoughts we share in.(?)
Good of you to share your experiences.

Maths is part of the Quantum Fields Modulation Mechanism self-defining spectrum, in which the innate potential possibly of all probability is expressed in temporal existence,
..so if the principle of connection is your starting point, the infinite interval 1-0D singularity modulated in the Polar-Cartesian multidimensional format of projection, the "first step", University has usually provided a mapping out of the "foreign land" of Mathematician-Philosophers.

What else you do besides your channel ? Means job etc.

You sound as though you have surpassed the ordinary with your very 'feet firmly on the ground' talk about your career aspirations, continuing with graduate studies, the possibility of registering for PhD research and not dreaming of 'getting a job' and becomming a 'housewife'.

hello tibees, i wanted to ask a question regarding "majoring both math and physics", what does that mean? I'm already obliged to take maths while majoring physics, is majoring maths at the same time considered extra maths or what does majoring in both subjects mean exactly? thank you for your help

I don't think I would have felt comfortable talking to you, I think possibly we would have talked about magnetic attraction and mutual interaction.
