PIMP Your Hilleberg Soulo Tent With This SIMPLE MODIFICATION

Although the Hilleberg Soulo is an amazing tent, I'm a big believer that nothing is perfect, so I'm always on the lookout for ways I can improve and modify my equipment to make it work better for me.

In this video I share a very simple modification that I have made to my Hilleberg Soulo to allow it to better protect me from the elements.

What mods/hacks have you made to your own tent(s) and why?

Superb tip...thank you...I did this recommended mod to my suolo....took it out for the first time last night and lo and behold at 2 of the 6 tie out points I was unable to get the tenet pegs into the ground, but by using the extenders it worked a treat....many thanks

Super! Not only you have more space but you can use rocks without damaging the pole slaves

Just got an Allak 2. As soon as I saw those tabs at the bottom of the tent when I put the thing up in the lounge.... I thought exactly the same as you. Great video. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. Seen the link to the line locks. Which line are you using with them? Also where did you get the line?
Thanks

Great idea. This will also work on many other tent models of course. I have a Fjällräven Abisko Endurance that this also will be useful to. I will prepare a couple of these to attach on wherever sleve that needs to be extended before my next trip.

Hi Craig,

I usually find myself in the high Sierras where the only ground is solid granite. Or deep snow. I rarely even bother to carry tent pegs anymore. All of my tie out loops have a permanent meter or so of paracord hanging off of them. A tautline hitch makes a knot that easily replaces the linelocks and the cord is looped around any rock or deadman anchor that is handy.

Great video though! :)

Take care and all the best from California 🧡

Where can I buy these linelocs from please?

I've never actually owned tents that have their own poles. Always used trekking pole tents. I always wondered how you got the fly taught om tents like this. Inner first tents are easy to get nice and taught but fly first tents are much more tricky

Great tip, I just larks footed the plastic line lock direct to the existing Hilleburg tie down point, shortens the whole assembly and you can still use it to peg out should you wish

Thanks for sharing! You could also use a taut line hitch knot on your tensioning line instead of the plastic line lock thing. So you save weight and money!

You’re using the tent peg 180 degrees wrong 🤣🤣

Petra Hilleberg says Never EVER push the tent pegs in with your foot, !!!
Interesting adaptation

I need to point out that in extreme conditions, this is not something that it is adviced to do. This does weaken the tent quite a bit.
