When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour, Black Widow, Stranger Things series) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

The film also stars Emmy winner John Leguizamo (John Wick), Cam Gigandet (Without Remorse), Alex Hassell (Cowboy Bebop), Alexis Louder (The Tomorrow War), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones) and Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise).

Directed by razor-edged Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow franchise), Violent Night is produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick David Leitch and Guy Danella. The original screenplay is by Pat Casey & Josh Miller, the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog. The film’s executive producer is Marc S. Fischer.

Universal Pictures will distribute the film in all territories.

I saw this last night. It's so good.

It's violent and bloody, and yet somehow still an utterly sincere Christmas movie.

As Santa might say, it's Christmas magic, but I'm not really sure how it works.

I love how pure Santa's heart is despite the killings. His two reasons to kill were 1) the girl asking for help was on the nice list and 2) everyone who put her family hostage were on the naughty list already. I really want to watch this!

Honestly I love this. Movies like this tend to be a psycho masquerading as Santa(silent night deadly night) or it's some sort of evil version like krampus. I love the idea that Santa just found himself in a house invasion, and is going to kick ass to protect the children.

I hope the reindeer get to do some cool shit too.

I love how this goes from looking like a typical Christmas movie to turning into a grim, violent, and gruesome story. Can't wait to watch it!

It's kind of refreshing to see a Santa movie where he isn't just some mystical man or an evil monster. He's just a dude who loves his job (and knows how to kick ass because I'm pretty sure he was viking in some legends)

Honestly, it's like Santa's Slay but way more heroic. Those random gunners are also like the assassin group what Krampus always wanted to have. And that'll be nice to have a surprising plot twist for most fans

This movie was the definition of badass. It’s rated R but it’s just Santa messing up bad guys and I didn’t have any problem letting the kids watch it.
