How does one put that on a drawing? I have a pipe that i needed to be cut, the the cutters cant use the model i give them. Should i the just use the sketch i created my wrap with and pull that through to the drawing?

If you were to used this feature to make a type of wheel cam is there a mate that can keep a follower on the surface? The cam mate doesn't work because its not just one surface.

Ronet M - thanks for posting. I read your reply to Jaswinder Singh Chopra
of 2-years ago. Really nice job, BTW. Giving you a 'thumbs up' on that. You told Jas that 2017 Wrap tool would work on any surface. In the video, you mentioned two surfaces: cylindrical and conical. Those are probably the most common, I suppose. A less regular surface might be a cube, pyramid shape, sphere or a shape like the classic hourglass form of a Coca Cola bottle. Could decent results be obtained on those surfaces?

I'm not sure if this will fix my problem or not, but it looks like it could. I have a cylinder object as the main part, and I need to affix a series of domed buttons around the outside of the cylinder. I've been scratching my head for a couple days on this one.

I've created the part and a button. I figured once I can get one button attached I could just use the pattern feature to get the rest of the buttons installed.

I am fairly new to 3D modeling. As a matter of fact I've owned solidworks for less than a week and I've never attempted to model before. So there is that.

Sometimes I feel software developers need to give their applications to people who haven't been doing this stuff for years and see how it goes. Something as simple as combining two parts to make an assembly should be this difficult.

I have an older version of SolidWorks (10) and by watching yours and other YouTubers video tutorials I've finally figured out how to use the wrap feature with good success. Lately I've been attempting to use the "Wrap" feature on a model that is more of a football shaped cylinder. I've gone through the same process to wrap my text around it but with each failed attempt I've gotten a popup message stating the this version of SolidWorks does not support the wrap feature onto a trapezoidal cylinder.
I'm trying to wrap the letter "C" onto this model so as to appear as fish scale texture on the surface. This wrapping process works like gang busters on all the other models I've tried this on. Can you give me a suggestions as to how to go about getting it to work on my football shaped model?

I need to do this to cut triangular slots in that same type of hollow cylinder, got frustrated and now taking a break.. I noticed there is an equation for the bottom dimension of your sketch to be wrapped, that would be the circumference of the cylinder right? how is that done or can I just calculate it one time, or do I even need to be thinking about that. The slots are symmetrical and evenly spaced around the top.

Good morning, I need your help. I need to representate the unwrapped sketch in the drawing environment. How can I do it?

I was wondering if you could help me out a bit. I'm trying to wrap a sketch, which is exactly the same length as the cylinder's diameter, but it keeps giving me the error "could not use any contours from sketch". If I make the sketch a tad shorter, it works, but  still the sketch wouldn't be entirely around the cylinder. Any tips? Thanks a lot

If only fusion 360 had a feature like this. It has an emboss command, but no command that can exclusively wrap a sketch around a curved surface. There are ways around it, but they are round about, using the tools in ways they weren’t intended.

Dear GoEngineer, I never see that coming. I have solidwork book, but that's not on the book. Thank you for tutoring.
