Connor, thank you for the great work you are putting in, I appreciate you lots.

What do you think of Gallagher's move to Athleti? The deal between the 2 clubs is almost done, do you think Connor will be willing to move to Spain, also in your personal opinion do you think we need or don't need him in the team?

I feel like we’re progressing the ball much better than before (still no composure in final third but hopefully that’s better with Palmer/enzo returning) but we’re desperately missing Caicedo/cucurella and our 8’a aren’t tracking runs and leaving lavia so isolated. I foresee us giving up a ton of goals until everyone works harder off the ball. Sanchez horrendous with his feet and will continue to make mistakes that will get punished.

Very nice technical breakdown. Definitely mentioned the important bits 👍
A lot of people is malding because of the result but I actually were more happy with this game against Celtic than against Wrexham. I was trying so hard not to fell to sleep on the game against Wrexham because Chelsea play were so static but against Celtic I can see already that the team got some attacking pattern already that was working.

The wing defensive play will get sorted out when we’re able to recover the ball and move the ball forward quicker. At the moment we’re allowing the opponents wing backs to get forward because when we do recover the ball we slow things down and make one too many passes to get the ball forward and wide. This allows the defenders to be able to recover. These are smart players and know if you give them time to get back then they will risk getting forward more. If we cut that time in half of getting the ball high and wide then the opp defenders will have to be more conservative and stay back and hold the line. That’s really the point of having our wingers play so high and wide. Once the players really get going with the system you’ll see this work out in our favor.

Hi Connor, I was at the Notre Dame stadium :)
It was a pretty good start but I guess the midwest heat was too much and the players didn't push themselves much as the "preseason" match progressed.
Brendan Rodgers' Celtic were sharper and had more skin in the game as this was their last preseason game ahead of their league start.

James looked very ordinary in the inverted role.
Our central midfield was almost non-existent with recovering Lavia as the only natural player. Ugochukwu looked good once he came on.

Colwill, Badiashile and Fofana didn't really sync up and I thought Fofana's positioning in general was poor.
Colwill the most vocal player on the pitch with his gestures and shouts to organize the defense.
Besides the mistake that led to the 3rd goal, I thought Badiashile was the best among the defenders. Tosin seemed slow to react.
Sanchez didn't look sharp enough on the ball although he had his good moments.

You are spot on with respect to Guiu, Gusto and Madueke. Nkunku was pretty good as well considering pre-season.
Madueke reluctance to use his right feet can make him predictable especially against quality fullbacks.

Mudryk has his 1-2 moments and then disappears; should contribute more off the ball.

PS: Fofana handed me a Chelsea cloth bag; Nkunku and Ugochukwu signed it as well :)

The discipline on movement into on the ball and off the ball needs to be worked on. When we invert the full-back we control the ball better and have more numbers in midfield the issue is we leave large spaces that can be exploited especially on the wings if the CBs go wide there's still space in between the 3 CBs hence why it's crucial James or whoever is inverting is quick enough to get back into position at RB or Left Back. Against Celtic the balance wasn't right having Nkunku and Carney as 8s Ideally we need one box to box 8 that can slot into a double pivot Caicedo Gallagher KDH would be ideal the second 8 sort of a 10 that can drop further to create and link from further forward Palmer Nkunku Carney would be ideal for the second 8. Cucu showed the discipline needed in test inverted role alot of Chelsea fans didn't see how much of energy and concentration it took him inverting then quickly getting back into LB to ensure that space is closed down then again into midfield and battling. James is an exceptional player but lacks that intensity fitness and concentration moving between the 2 roles maybe in time he can improve. I would rather Maresca start the season with Cucurrella inverting to continue from where we left off last season.

having the keeper as centerback just looks scary to me lol

inverting gusto is a criminal offense. He is so good down he right side, and you are taking away everything that makes him a great RB.
