I really admire the art they created at a time when cameras weren't a thing

Try to imagine seeing roughly 27 meteors *per second* That is what 100, 000 meteors per hour would look like.

Oh man I wish I could have seen that. Time to mark 2032 in my calendar.

My ggggrandfather John Nelson in Ellijay Georgia at the time actually witnessed and mentioned this event in our Nelson genealogy book... and that’s how he referred to it, as “ the night the stars fell”... he said he was an 8 yr old little boy at the time, and he and his family thought it was the end of the world

Can you imagine what it was like seeing 100, 000 meteors per hour? What a sight that must have been!

Imagine waiting 10 years and getting a clouded AF sky on that day 🤣

I witnessed the 1999 Leonid storm from France. During the peak at around 2am the frequency of dazzling trails across the sky were in the thousands hourly. It was, to say the least, a unforgettable ....almost sci fi experience, perched on a rock well wrapped in warm clothing on that cold and extraordinary night.

I literally thought you'll say "Subscribe to be notified in 11 years" 😂😂😂😂 cause that would be hilarious!

While I, a plebeian, couldn't think past getting through 2021...sky enthusiasts are already thinking of 2032. Lets hope we all survive to watch this meteor shower. Another worthy reason to stay alive.

Note to self - Exchange thin tin foil hat for a much thicker tin foil hat before 2032.

Seeing that today would be absolutely insane, but imagine this happening 300 years ago. Everyone would have been sh*tting themselves with fear

Anyone remember that one meteor storm we had in 2001? We counted anywhere from 15-35 meteors per minute during that storm where I lived at (Virginia). I will never forget that night and how beautiful it was.

I saw this meteor shower in Nov 2020. We saw on average 2 per minute. It was spectacular

“We lived our little drama, we kissed in a field of white
And stars fell on Alabama last night
I can't forget the glamor, your eyes held a tender light
And stars fell on Alabama last night…”

I saw a whole night of this in 2001. Non stop of shower, was I the only one who noticed?

I saw a storm in 2001, and it was one of the more amazing things I've seen in my entire life.

Alex, you have the absolute BEST channel on astronomy and the universe for the lay person on YouTube.... Your narrative is concise, easy to understand and you have a great speaking voice... Plus the videos, graphics and photos you show are fantastic. I put your playlists on almost every night and fall asleep to them. NOT that they are boring.. they just help me relax. Whatever I miss, I'll just catch up on the next day. Plus, you don't distract the viewer with loud music and sound Keep up the great work!..😎

I remember being told stories about this when I was a kid. It's crazy how it still remains a part of our collective memory so many generations later.
