I'm proud someone has done Windows XP on Haswell. Now we need the Ultimate Windows XP machine with i7-4790K and GTX 980 Ti (maybe even a Titan X). ;)

People probably mixing up "not supported" with "won't work." "Not supported" means that if you encounter any issues then they won't help you with support for it or try and get it working for you.

Thanks for sharing and educating us retro gamers. The snappy driver utility is fantastic

You don't have to explain the upload schedule every time. We're happy to get a video whenever you're ready.

Snappy is lifesaver for missing drivers. Have been using 2 years now for retro projects from xp to win 7.

Haswell is great - and with AVX2 and FMA3 support it's right up there with the latest i9-9900K in terms of instruction set support. Another neat thing about Haswell is that the L1 cache is twice as fast per clock as Sandy/Ivy Bridge (Intel had to do that, in order to keep the SIMD units properly fed when running AVX2 optimized code). However, the stupid-fast L1 also makes Haswell great for pushing really high frame rates in older XP-era games, where single-threaded CPU performance is the primary bottleneck. 500 fps in Far Cry, anyone?

I prefer Snappy Driver Installer Origin, but they're both super useful lifesavers for old drivers :D

SDI is surely a life saver, I have it sitting in a shared folder on my network so whenever I need some drivers to be picked up (usually from unsupported scenearios like these) I use a cheap generic wireless receiver to access it without carrying usb sticks here and there

Haswell is definitely underrated in terms of used intel chips. I still have my i5 4460 on both of my gaming rigs and performs very well to this day even compared to a Ryzen 3 CPU. :)

If you're already versed with slipstreaming for a Windows XP iso file, you should consider integrating Dibya's alternative ram patch, which allows the kernel to actually support PAE as intended and elevates Windows xp 32bit to support up to 128gb of installed memory. At that point, the only thing XP can't install to, based on inference, is nvme ssd's.
It's my understanding that evga even made custom Windows xp drivers for their x299 Dark motherboard. Couple that with nvidia's latest driver supporting the Titan Z in the OS, it is then possible to make a ludicrously expensive, overkill machine to run Windows XP on. 😀👌

I used to have XP installed on a Sandy Bridge i3 machine with a pair of cheap Sata SSDs in RAID. I had never experienced Windows XP move so quickly lol. The best XP PC I had had before that point had a Pentium D and a 250GB HDD.

Perfect! Thanks! My GF want's to play old Sims games and such but it doesn't work good on Windows 10. She has haswell and a GTX 960. This should work on her computer. :)

These two tools are awesome! A fresh install on many of my retro machines with the SDI tool makes it a breeze! The odd time I need to find a better video card driver.
