Thanks for sharing this one. I love those kind of days. I personally always have an ultra lite rod with me, even when bass fishing. On a day like this one, I would use my TFO 6'6" ultra lite with my Shimano Stradic 1000, spooled with 6 pound Daiwa high vis chartreuse X8 J-Braid and a 1 1/2 foot 6 pound Trilene Sensation mono leader. My lure would have been a 1 5/8", 3/32 oz., Rebel Trac Down minnow. It's slow sinking and I fish it pretty close to how you were fishing the jerk bait. My "jerks" are much less severe, and I usually give it a 5 - even 10 count before I start twitching and pausing all the way back to the shore line. I have had some 8 inch blue gill slam it within' that first 5 - 10 seconds before I started any kind of retrieve. With the lighter line, my drag is much loser, and the fights are a lot longer. That's were most of the fun is for me. In the fight. I love how big those gills and smaller bass feel on the lighter line and rod. I love seeing you and April fish together. It still is so awesome to me to see the two of you having such a good time together sharing the sport of fishing. May you, April and your entire family have a blessed holiday season!! Stay safe!!! As a fish breeder, fish culling is a necessary part of the process because if you allow the weaker ones to breed into the mix, they pass their weak genes on. Especially in a stocked pond where the fish have a regular feeding, survival of the fittest isn’t always happening. But it should be said, leave the fish culling to the professionals
