The Present Simple Tense Affirmative Form | How to Use the Present Simple and Verb Spelling Rules

Learn how to write sentences in the present simple tense affirmative form in this beginner English grammar lesson. I'll teach you when we use the present simple, how to use the present simple with adverbs of frequency, and how to conjugate verbs with the he/she/it form.
At the end of the lesson, we will have a practice session where you will have to correct the incorrect sentences. You'll also have to fill-in-the blanks with the correct conjugation of the verbs in the present simple.
When do we use the present simple?
1. We use the verb the present simple when something is normally or always true.
Example:
Animals need water to survive.
2. We use the present simple tense for situations that we believe is more or less permanent.
Example:
Joe lives in Paris.
3. We use the present simple to talk about habits or things that we do regularly. We can use time expressions (adverbs of frequency) such as often, always, sometimes, and never with the present simple.
Example:
I always drink tea before bed.
4. We use the present simple to talk about the future when we are discussing a timetable or fixed plan.
Example:
The film starts at 8 o’clock.
