I know people don’t like Shinji because he’s annoying, but there’s a part of me that can’t blame him. All he wanted was a happy normal life-for someone to love him. He wanted to be loved. I’m
glad that in the last movie he found someone who loved and can now live a normal life.

i just finished evangelion after two nights of endless bingewatching. I’ve got to say, no anime or manga has ever made me feel that way. These ways rather, cuz i went through so many stages, my favorite part and the one that spoke the most visual wise but also emotionally had to be the end of evangelion(movie)

Shinji is an amazing character but I have a VERY personal grudge with him. Evangelion characters can be either loved to death or hated for life (my quote, by the way). The reason why it's because they reflect things about ourselves that we would rather ignore or deny. The worst side of our being. Shinji for me, reflects my older self. I don't think I ever had depression but I had some serious self esteem problems and did bad stuff because of it, both for myself and for others. Luckily, I have come to develop a very healthy self esteem but the fact that Shinji reminds me of how insecure, dishonest, and even selfish I used to be...I cannot help but hate him. But he is prolly one of the best characters ever written and how he managed to get to love himself at the end of the series really inspired me
