Rog Ally 67wh Battery Mod !!!

Heads up!! For those buying from alternative suppliers you could end up with cells physically too big and will not fit in the Ally!! If you can not buy from the link then that's the risk you take. Unfortunately for those in the US this seems to be the case but if anyone does find this exact battery elsewhere please mention it in the comments! 👍🏻

Some extra information about this battery....
Upon testing this extensively over the past few weeks I have charging results. the 40wh original ally battery charged at around 45w when the ally was switched off taking it about 50 minutes to reach 80% then trickle it's way to 100% in about 1 hour 45 minutes. This 67wh battery will charge at a full 65w with the ally switched off which only takes it 1 hour to charge to 90% then trickle it's way to 100% in about 1 hour 30 minutes!! This is due to the design capacity and charge rate programmed into the pcd board which was originally intended for the Asus zenbook, that also charges at 65w. Honestly this is a match made in heaven and I honestly doubt there is a more suited battery for the ally than this. I've bought and taken apart a few batteries now including the stock ally battery so this has been an expensive journey for me but so worth it!
Now obviously your doing this mod at your own risk! I'm already aware of some batteries coming slightly different to the one I have with the board being backwards and the wires being on the back side to mine. the wiring is still the same I believe but triple check where your positive and negative wires are before you plug this in! it could be an easy mistake to get these the wrong way around!! I didn't force anyone to do this mod so if you break something don't blame me!!! Do at your own risk!!!

Why couldn’t Asus just make a 100w battery. They have the technology. I think they deliberately made a smaller battery for the OG ally just so people would want to buy the ally X

Great job! Best ROG Ally battery IMO, no need to butcher the backplate.

The loss of the screw does sting a little, but it's far from an issue.

Theres literally a 76wh battery that fits in the ROG ally with the right connector you can get on Alliexpress now, most people say it works just fine for 70$ and you just have to trim some plastic.

First of all, thank you very much for your tutorial. I love modifications like this! I happened to have a defective Zenbok UX363JA with exactly the same battery model left over and I got to work straight away. However, I noticed that my BMS was slightly different from yours. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was the size of the cells. My cells are 47mm wide. In the Ally, however, the cells can only be a maximum of 45mm wide. So the used battery is unfortunately out of the question. What a pity! As for my battery, it is a C41N1904 15.48V with 67Wh, so it should actually be identical.

Could you remove the cells from the battery management board and wire the pads in and make the board sit horizontal?

I wish there would be a shorter battery management board on this mod, I've moded my heatsink already, and the battery management board can't run that high on my ally...

Regarding that top-center screw, as u already used 4 wires to re-arrange 2 battery cells, I think we can use 8 wires to connect all cells and rotate the battery board horizontally.

The linked eBay product is out of stock.
So I bought 2 different C41N1904 products.
However, the width of the cell is larger, so it does not fit into the logally.

If you wanted the last screw in couldn't you just unsolder the other 2 batteries like the top 2 and move the long board elsewhere?
