Breast cancer is the largest form of cancer found in women today. Current methods of detecting breast abnormalities are not affordable, accessible and do not work on all women. In this talk, Dr. Geetha Manjunath shares her story of developing a novel computer aided solution for breast cancer screening, which is suitable for all women to detect early stage breast cancer and save many lives.
Dr. Geetha Manjunath is a Computer Scientist and Entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience across technology, innovation and research. She and her team at NIRAMAI, are developing a novel software to detect breast cancer at a much earlier stage than traditional methods or self-examination. The solution is a low cost, accurate, automated, portable cancer screening tool that can be operated by a simple clinician. Over the years, Dr. Manjunath has led many innovative projects in Healthcare and Transportation, especially catering to Emerging Markets. Among her other distinctions, she has co-authored a book on Cloud Technologies called “Moving to the Cloud” and is the inventor of 14 US patents with more pending grant.
