She didn't wait for the dry down. Thats where the leather is. There is hour 1, hour 2 and hour 3 with Dunhill Icon. All different. Nothing she is saying actually fits Dunhill Icon. Its totally unique. Nothing like it out there. I say this as a collector.

Dunhill Icon is one of my favorite fragrances, but I'm not sure we have smelled the same fragrance. Yes, it has a citrus opening but black pepper and wood are some of the most prominent notes when it starts to dry down. I can not complain about the performance either as it works well for 7+ hours for me.

I’ve had this for quite some time now, and out of the 140 I have in my collection, it still gets wear and has its place. I think this is a great casual and work scent that’s designed to be very inoffensive and mass appealing, and that’s exactly what it is. I pick up a soapy bergamot, pine, black pepper, neroli, and vetiver with a basic woody dry down. Simple? Yes. But that’s okay. Great for those that like Grey Vetiver, Terre D’HERMES, D&G Pour Homme, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme, even John Varvatos Artisan Pure, etc.

I don’t think you’re smelling the same fragrance. :) This is a fairly unique fragrance and the performance on my skin in pretty good. I bought after finishing a 10ml decant.

I first smelled Icon early in my exploration. It was the one that made me think, "Ok. Yes. I'm doing the fragrance thing." Having smelled many other quality fragrances since first smelling Icon, I suppose I may think less of it. But I do still like it very much.

It took me many wears before I got a leathery drydown. I was very confused when it first happened.

I agree that it smells average, but don't take that to mean it's mediocre! It's one of those fragrances that stays in the background and doesn't make a statement. Something like Grey Vetiver and many other neroli-based fragrances. I think that's a strength in itself.

The chemical mix to me it has an almost grape soda smell...which is kind of nice and to me different...I wear it in the spring to the fall and a lot of people seem to like it and it lasts quite a while ...It's a different smell from the mostly summer lemon and mandarin scents.

I must confess I bought this mostly for the cool bottle. Also recommended by Joy Amin as one of his favs. The scent is alright, nothing spectacular. Got the Icon Absolute also mostly for the bottle (gold colour), like its scent much more.

Icon is fantastic imo. I get a good bit of spice and smoke out of it, really enjoy it. wish the longetivity was better, but I love it.

I get a green herbal smell in it that I could not get past. It is not my favorite and I actually gave it away. I agree with you, its pretty average. I DO LIKE THE BOTTLE :-)

I have the EDP and the performance is fantastic, skin care is key, also this is a great all around warm weather scent and as the day turns into night you can easily stack other scents on for whatever the day brings you.

I use this one for the Gym, or out and about in the Spring and Summer.
Good one for the price . . . . I have an earlier bottle with good longevity.

This is the one that started it all for me w/ fragrances. I love the opening but as it gets further into the drydown I don't really care about it anymore. Still, early on I bought a bottle (a tester) and now it sits there among a sea of decants I like so much more. Easy to wear as a dumb reach when I don't have anyone to impress.

I'm coming back to this one once in a while in an effort to understand it. I think Icon is quite unique but I get a sweaty neroli vibe during the entire life of the fragrance that I can't get to love.

So, Wow. I have the Icon EDP and I get pepper mixed in the opening and through the mids it got kind a smell of a “Fine” French milled soapy smell and as it dries down I get the neroli and Vetiver but the soapy clean hangs in there. I get above average performance and for me this is a really unique DNA, I don’t have anything that smells like it and I have nearly 200 bottles. My wife likes it and I do get complements. The other thing is that even though it has a descent scent bubble it’s really not cloying so safe for office, church and dates!
