The song was written in response to the death of Johnathan Ball, 3, and Tim Parry, 12, who had been killed in the IRA bombing in Warrington, northwest England, when two devices hidden in litter bins were detonated.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish alternative rock band the Cranberries, written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riordan in memory of Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry, who were killed in the 1993 Warrington bombings. It was released on 19 September 1994 as the lead single from their second studio album, No Need to Argue, two weeks ahead of the album's release. Music critics have long recognised "Zombie" as "a masterpiece of alternative rock".

i grew up in Belfast, born there in the 70s, still here, know this song well, things maybe aren't as bad as they were in the past, the paramilitaries' no longer kill people from the other communities, instead they have turned the guns on their own communities to keep themselves in control of the streets, the peace walls separating the communities have been made higher while the paramilitaries have grown more powerful with thousands of members, this song has always made me emotional, some of the video was made where i used to hang around as a kid. i know we are living in a tinder box and that it would only take a spark to reignite the troubles, i wish more people could see what this song is saying, thank you Dolores O Riordan, may you rest in peace x

This reaction is the most enlightened one I have seen for the song/video and its message. I appreciated the depth in your explanation and perception of it.

On the 20th of March 1993 two bombs planted by the Provisional IRA detonated in Warrington UK injured 54 people and killed two young boys 3 and 12 years old  Dolores was so pisst off and decided to write the song Zombie she said this is an angry song about the people still fighting after the Irish Easter Rising 1916  and the futility of violence and terrorism and the impactit has on children in particular.

The sound she made its called "keening".
It's a sound a mother makes whe she lost her child. That's what I've learned from other viewers.

I normally don't watch the last part of a reaction video. I usually just watch the reaction and leave. But I stayed on to hear your explanation and what you thought because I LOVE YOUR ACCENT!!!

War has got to be the ugliest thing we human beings can do to each other.

To understand this song you need to learn about The 1916 easter uprising that created the republic of Ireland and freed them from centuries of oppression by the English

Very emotional and painful song. R.I.P Dolores. If you really liked this one check out Linger, Dreams, Ode To My Family and When You're Gone

Appropriate reaction. Very heavy song.

1916. WW1 was raging and while many Irish people went to war for" king and country", while the Republicans who wanted freedom from British rule, turned their guns against the English soldiers. It's known as "Bloody Sunday".

The "cause" still exists, but the worst of the violence is over.

Finally a reaction video where person's voice is not super quiet compared to music. I don't understand why they do it. But your reaction was very nice :)

Just want to say that is real footage of how the Irish lived (live) not that long ago. "White people" are painted with the same brush. I'm Australian of Irish ancestors, dumped on an island who made a great country but now i get called a colonizer a racist because of my skin colour. I look at Ireland & they have fought so long & so hard but now they are also being told they are racists if they don't allow mass migration. Now they are fighting to keep the little bit of independence & rights they gained bc "globalism" they never colonised other countries, they only wanted independence. We need to stop looking at the World through American eyes & revenge against the colonizers. Privilege exists in all countries creeds & ethnicities.
