Usain Bolt - he never forgets where he came from

Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, never forgets where he came from.

We all know his face, but do you know his inspiring story?

Usain grew up poor in the small Jamaican town of Sherwood Content. His father ran the local shop. It was a humble beginning – there was no running water or street lights.

Aged 14, he was opening eyes with his lightning speed… to eventually become the fastest runner ever.

And the world’s fastest man never forgets where he came from.

He used his own money to bring his home town:
Electricity
A new sewage system
Running water
A community centre

“I was always taught that the fortunate help the not-so-fortunate,” says the Jamaican sprinter.

Around Christmas he usually goes back to Sherwood Content to entertain and hand out gifts to 500 villagers.

Through his foundation – the Usain Bolt Foundation – he positively impacts the lives of many underprivileged children.

He donated $274K to a children’s home in Jamaica, he built a new playing field for the children of his home town, and when his former high school was in trouble, he paid $1.3M to save its athletics programme…
