I dont think we are the only intelligent life in the universe but i do think that all intelligent life, with the capabilty to create, doesnt have the lifespan nor the amount of resources to survive interstellar travel so we will never meet face to face the most i think we can ever do is travel within our own solar systems. The distance between sections of 1 galaxy is so vast that traveling from galaxy to galaxy is just inconceivable

Even if there was beings living on Proxima B, they would never meet face to face with humans on earth or Proxim unless they are willing to never return home but that would never be possible because when they returned home, millions of years would have passed. They will never see their loved ones again. They would send bots in crafts though.
