The condition of "lengthening someone's life" for the shingiami death rule always seemed confusingly vague to me. Like what exactly counts as lengthening a life? Wouldnt Ryuk writing the names of criminals while Light was in captivity also technically lenghten Light's life? Why didnt Ryuk die?

this is what always confuses me, misa’s life span is shortened twice in the show but because a shinigami fell in love with her and killed her assassin she was supposed to get the shinigami’s life span which is probably hundreds of years, in that case wouldnt she be able to survive anything in the show? even after being caught and sentenced to death, she probably wouldn’t die for at least another 100 years, i mean what does life span even mean? if its not cut off thats how long someones gonna live? not necessarily according to the show it means when its up they die right? This show contradicts itself

No sadness no pity no happiness no depression no anger etc and I wouldn't even care for my own life, what do you think I would have done having one of these emotionless moments and having the urge to end this all.
