I have a stutter, and James' performance was showing a realistic depiction of sutterers. We don't always just repeat the first syllable, sometimes we elongate out syllables so we can finally form the word and make it verbal. And sometimes we just get through a word fine, but under stress, we can say the same word but slower and with a pause because we somehow lost the way to shape our mouths. It happens. And James did a great job representing people with stutters.

James McAvoy was probably happy that he got to take on the role of Bill after the huge flop Dark Phoenix presented at the Box Office. Glad he is one of The Losers, great performance.

I never read the book as a kid but just finished it about a month ago, I'm 32 now. I found the book to be very impactful. Scary and unsettling. Not anything so much to do with the clown manifestation but the ideas surrounding repressed childhood trauma and its resurfacing. Being taken back to that trauma as an adult and the feelings of helplessness living in this town that seems to have a haze over the adults rendering them unable to see or help with the terror. I imagine that there are some themes in the book that would be beyond a kid's ability to grasp. For James to have had a different experience having read it as an adult versus a 15 year old isn't surprising to me.
