The 5 skills you need to build dynamic #dashboards in #Excel

Excel may be your most overlooked design tool...
That's because of a few Excel features that you already know about but probably aren't using. Here's how to use them so that you can make Excel look less like... Excel.

Shapes & Images: you can build complex backgrounds and effects using the 'insert':'shape' and 'insert':'pictures' sections of Excel. You can layer these shapes and images on top of each other to build a design in the same way you would build a powerpoint slide.

Text fields: text doesn't have to go in a cell, you can insert text boxes and move them around the page, style them and even add dynamic values to them by pointing them to a cell

Style your charts: many people don't realize they can style their charts. You're not stuck with the default styles. Each element can be customized in Excel to match your design and color scheme.

With a bit of creativity you can build powerful dynamic dashboards and visualizations that look great.
