ok so ive been getting more informed on atypical and on the way the show portrays autism and how it is considered ableist. it has been supported by “autism speaks” which believes theres a “cure” for autism. also, the actor who plays the father has said the r slur several times on twitter.

i encourage you to watch other (EDIT: or more!) shows with sapphics (like haunting of bly manor, mindhunter, euphoria. im including a link below). AND if you want to watch one with good rep and autistic actors as well, “everything’s gonna be okay!” has been v recommended!!

remember wanting good lgbt rep is important, but so is having good autistic rep.

i’ve been seeing more comments about first hand representation on this show and i’ve been getting a bit more informed and what i wrote before was about how some people felt towards the show, but again, its not a universal experience at all and there are people who feel represented in atypical as seen in the comments below this post so i just want to say again i’m only getting what i know from what i read or talk about! all of the info added is just for ur consideration and i will be leaving other shows in case u want more lgbt and sapphic rep, or autistic rep! this is a safe place, i truly don’t want to make anyone feel excluded especially as i’m not keen on this subject at all. enjoy atypical if u watch it! (or don’t if u don’t like it). experiences are unique, just try to be considerate and tolerant. have a v sapphic day thank u
