For the record, I got this to work on the original version for NES system back in the 90s. Finally nice to see someone else found this. Gotta hit the 041. **This DID NOT WORK in SNES All Stars!** I had read an early edition of Nintendo Power but it did not make the published version because the developers did not intend this to happen and didn't want to advertise an "error" in the game!

Technically a lie. You can hold down and press a at this point at the starting screen to restart from the begining of the world, in your case youd be right back at 4-1
