I still have my Polo 1.4, 16v 75hp from 2002. I bought it like 4 years ago. Rock solid works even today. I just need some paint correction....
That engine indicator - it turned on for me as well, once I had put a different type of petrol, because it was convenient for me to go to another gas station than the one I often go.

Indicator was there for a month, basically for duration of the petrol in tank and when I refilled at usual station, with usual petrol, it was gone.

Nice car!!!! And that engine is one of the most balanced of that Polo generation, a good choice as second hand-second car because 75 CV are more than correct for urban use...good test Joe!!!!

I have a 2010 sedan version, with 2.0 8V 120hp flex engine (running in petrol only). I just love it! :D

I have a 2003 Polo 9N 1.4 with 75bhp and right now I have 263, 000 kilometres on the clock. At 110, 000 kilometres I fitted an LPG kit and I had no issues so from the kit.

As for the car, overall it has been good and reliable. I had to change only once the lamba sensor, the 4 ignition coils, the butterfly valve and a part for cooling the oil. Other than that, I change the oil every 7, 500 kilometres and all the other maintenance components every 15, 000 kilometres. As a VW car, the check light is always on, but still after all these years it doesn't burn any oil, so I guess it will last for many more years.
