Joan Sebastian was a Mexican singer-songwriter who wrote, performed, and recorded Latin pop music, in addition to various regional Mexican styles, specifically banda, mariachi and norteño. He is known as "El Rey del Jaripeo” (The King of the Rodeo), "El Poeta del Pueblo” (The People’s Poet), "El Poeta de Juliantla" (The Poet of Juliantla) and "El Huracán del Sur" (The Hurricane of the South). He wrote more than 1,000 songs and was awarded seven Latin Grammy Awards and five Grammy Awards, making him the most awarded Mexican performer in Grammy history. Norteño was originally released under the Musart label in 1988, it was Joan’s first norteño style album and it was an instant hit. Accompanied by norteño band Kiko Montalvo y Su Conjunto, the album features all norteño style songs composed by Joan Sebastian himself. Love songs fill the tracklist, including the ballad “En tu sonrisa,” the opener “Quiéreme” and “Traficante de besos.” There is a corrido titled “El corrido de Zenón” and even a polka titled “La polka de Reynosa.” Craft Latino is releasing the remastered digital album.
