theMCGuiRE review takes a look at Exit The Game - a new series from KOSMOS. This is a really fun "escape room" experience designed to be played with 1-6 players in under 2 hours. The series offers 3 different experiences to be played at this point and I hope to see more in the future.

So if you are into the escape room feel or just like solving puzzles, you should love these new titles.

EXIT is an amazing gaming experience at home. If you have never played this game, preferably start with *The Mysterious Museum* it's really very entertaining 👍

Just got the Secret Lab to play at work during lunch. I'm real curious to see how destroying a component (cutting a card) is actually useful. I don't really care about doing it. I think the price vs experience is well worth the play through even if it's just once. I've spent WAY more for SO much less. Ha! But mechanically, I just don't see how cutting card helps...unless you line up two cards (akin to the folded page in a MAD magazine) to get the whole picture....

Can't wait!

I haven’t destroyed anything. That gives the game another dimension to the game plan. My laser jet copier and printer was my friend and a couple of sheets of baking paper. It’s fun!

Huh. My entire life I've been mispronouncing escape by saying "eh-scape" instead of "ecks-cape"!! 😉

We just completed the laboratory escape room. I am not too happy with this escape room. My thirteen year old and I could not come close to solving more than 4 of the puzzles without using the cheat cards. I defy you to find 12 year olds who can solve these on their own. It seems highly improbable that an average 12 year old could do this. It felt more like an exercise in puzzles without logical solutions without bringing some specialized knowledge to the table. We may try another. We felt that the puzzles should start easy and get progressively harder. The only easy puzzles came at the end which was too late to give a sense of accomplishment to my son who felt like we had to keep cheating. It wasn’t always clear what materials we were allowed to use... ie. The cover of the book? It was even hard to figure out where to start after reading the instructions. I had to watch a video to know to locate the first card in the escape room. We felt that more than one of the puzzles were so Byzantine that I don’t know how an average person could solve them. My son, who is a board game nut, was often board and frustrated. This is the kid who at 11 taught himself to play the civilization board game. I felt like the age listing was deceptive. Probably should be changed to 21 with a college degree as a requirement. Just a suggestion.

Is this meant to be a one time experience? Just curious.
