Facinating interviews. Whats more facinating is after living there for more than 10 years some 20 years, they didnt learn enough Putonghua to make their living in China more comfortable!

I absolutely adore the African couple with their intelligence & thoughtful answers. They appear to really enjoy living in China but at the same time can convey succinctly what the challenges are. Her statement about learning to adapt to the system resonates deeply with me & I hope as time goes by, China will become much more accommodating & culturally aware of foreigners, especially from Africa.

The visa issue is really stressful. They reject visa extensions for no reasons even when you have the appropriate documents. One other struggle in Beijing is that most landlords won't rent out their apartments to foreigners. It's really wild in China now !

It's sad that this couple could not find the hotels, but in the end the eight hotels would accept their registration. But there are few very good translations apps available in China. I wish these foreigners would have a smooth transition to their new journey in China.

One can be in heaven but will still hated if they don't give themselves permissions to be there for whatever reasons. China will always be there for those who wants to be a part of it.

My mother didn't like UK at all, when she was there. Stayed there for a year with my sister, packed up and left. She didn't like it at all, because most people didn't understand Chinese. Even her local sundry shop owner wouldn't learn Chinese to serve her. What kind of country or attitude is that.

So this is the biggest problems in China, most said language and that's to be expected. The nice couple who spoke about not being allowed into hotels shocked me, was this because of covid and the uncertainty of rules and protocols? after all that was China's first time problems with the pandemic, that's why I hope the hotel staff were refusing certain guests. Now that China is opening up to the world I am sure everything will return to normal.
Always interesting videos 👍👍👍

there's no such an international law says every country all the people have to speak english, assuming all chinese people should be able to speak english is just arrogant, china never asks all the residents on this planet to speak mandarin, so if wanna live in a certain place for long term, learn the local language instead of hoping all the locals speak your language, simple as that.

There's one question I would like to ask, Were you ever threaten, or harassed, by local Chinese people?
