Ok wtf.
I just picked a solution off the wall at random and it was the right one.
I was like "I guess all of them would work"

I didn't even notice the cardboard or the dots were apart of that puzzle. I took the blue basket hanging next to the box and pushed it into all the buttons at the same time and it worked.

I spent nearly 30 minutes on this puzzle yesterday before it clicked. Weirldy enough, this is why I love Valve games.

I just picked that square because it had those red-glowing Xen plants next to it. I did NOT realize you could open the cage.
That's pretty weird because Valve usually does an excellent job at pointing out interactivity, and I usually pick those clues up.

After trying some of the combos shown as graffity without success, I just sat down and started going through all permutations which is not all that many :15+14+...+1=120 in the worst case. Turned out to be just 42 tries. Yay, 42, probably not a coincidence ;-)

Ahh man I hate cheating, this is without doubt the best VR game out there but this "puzzle" frustrated me, i kept looking at the walls and charts etc..., ok now I can move forward. Well done Valve for this, you have shown us the way forward with WOW WOW WOW.

I spent 30 minutes trying to figure this out and I never opened that cage.

I quickly realized dots on the grids of the wall were going to be some combination to open up this problem. I picked a few of them they didn't work. I was wondering then if I had to do them all in a sequence or something else. Then I was wondering if I rotated the orientation of the grid in the correct way. I didn't have the patience to mess with it too long, so here I am looking at the solution on youtube.

I was thrown off because I thought you needed a combo of 3 (there were 3 slots), and out of all the boxes on the wall only one of them had three dots in it. So I kept using variations of that one and rotated to all sides. Then I gave up...

I thought the eyes were just messages from the vortigants, just saying “Hey, we can see you. Keep going or something lol”. I didn’t think it would be used in a puzzle, amazing work, Valve!

I'm pretty sure this game is actually designed for you to pick the right one off the wall if you try to pick it at random. Notice the subtle orange hue that covers the actual solution.

Easily the hardest puzzle in the game. I never would have figured that out. I tried a number of the combinations listed on the wall, but none of them would work. Guess I didn't try that one.

Wish I had seen this video before my playthrough of the game. I totally missed the cage and ended up trying every single combination until the gate opened.

after opening the cage i deadass thought the second eye wasn't complete so i started throwing the cardboard from the first eye into the second eye. safe to say it didn't work + my dumbass didnt even realize that there were combinations on the wall

Protip: Open the cage near the graffiti and the answer will reveal itself. Easily missed, it seems.

After opened the cage, i have no idea what to do & keep looking to the top for nearly an hour then decided to watching this & now I feel stupid.
