Yeah I was one of those people who commented, because Gainesville was the worst place I've ever lived. A small town with bad traffic, hot 10 months out of the year, not much going on except football and frat parties, and a weirdly high amount of crime for a small town. Oh and GRU charged extortionate prices. There are very few upsides to living in that city. It's a small town with big city bullshit (crime and traffic, etc), but without any large city perks like stuff to do, people to date, more than a couple of social groups, stuff like that. Luckily, I moved out of that cesspool where I rotted for two years wasting my life and I am thriving now. It was the best decision of my life. I cried, me a grown man of 33 years, cried when I signed my lease in Denver. Unfortunately, I will never get those two years back.

I would rather shovel snow every day of my life than live in Gainesville, Florida again.

There is no job market here let’s be factual. The cost of living is ridiculous. The homelessness is horrible. It hasn’t gotten worse in years. It’s always been like that because this area caters to rehab and transition from prison and it’s a very transient area and always has been. I’m still trying to find things to like about it, unless you’re a student are you only in here or run a business? This is not a lucrative location to live in is nowhere comparable to any of our major cities, but is definitely not what most in spec for a location housing a university as large as this university is, and there’s really no jobs or no social life opportunities here

Well, in my case, I chose Gainesville out of the blues to live being retired.

First, the central north strategic location, which I can go anywhere between 1.5 hous and land height in the state.

Next was the greenery throughout the city, which I felt in love with the "trees with beard" as soon as I saw them.
I visited many cities across Florida, but this one has charm.

Before I moved here, I visited a couple of times to make sure, since I NEVER been here.

NOW! if you are a young couple trying to make it here and buy a house. GOOD LUCK!!

I've been trying for 4 years and these prices are RIDICULOUS 😮😮😮😮. OF COURSE!

I'm renting right now in a lovely place called the Paddock Club, and so far, it's been RELAXING at a nice pace.

Do you want to see what a clustesf%#$k is, in order to complain of everything??

Go to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and let us know.😊👍

Honestly though bud, I was just venting there, I know this is your business. Feel free to delete my comments. I would understand.

I have been looking to retire in Florida for years. I noticed the homeless problem the local community and Church’s could make room for these people easily with old schools, office buildings, and extra land on some church property. The problem is it doesn’t freeze so they survive fine in Florida. I was going to retire around Tampa. But traffic and hurricanes along with evacuations. No way. So in 3 weeks I am going to start looking in Ocala to Tampa. But a small town deal is going to win. I will be 85 in twenty more years and gridlocked traffic is no in the plan.

Cant wait to leave honestly, so over priced, utility monopoly, nothing to do unless you want to travel and get a hotel. Downtown gainesville looks like something out of the walking dead also.

Well obviously there are jobs outside of the hospital and university. BUt those are service sector jobs. Startups and new businesses have been coming in for years, but leaving in equal droves. There is no job growth in the town outside of the university or hospital.

I understand you're a realtor and you want people to come to the town to buy houses from you or whatever your marketing schtick is but don't mislead people into thinking it's easy to move to gville and find work. It aint. If youre moving to gville you need to have your job all lined up at the university or hospital and heaven forbid that goes south, get ready to pack your bags because the alternatives are limited.

I live in Tampa and Gainesville. Tampa traffic issues are rare. Sometimes on a small stretch on 275 in between I4 and dale mabry. But it’s a minor issue some days at rush hour and not daily. SW 20th ave, Archer RD . Tower rd and Nw 34Th st are daily nightmare and this city will never widen them yet they have high impact fees on new construction.
And panhandling is worse than Tampa. Most cities panhandling is centralized in one area. In Gainesville it’s from I75 all the way east to Waldo Rd. I’ve lived here for 36 years. The panhandling and people living under the over passes is insane and building temporary structures on sidewalks on Archer and newberry rd is unsightly and unsafe. The weather is not controllable, the traffic and panhandling is
