I'm actually surprised that Slovakia has nearly 15, 000 words, meanwhile Czech Republic has only 7100 💀

Im most surprised by Sweden since it’s got such a long and interesting history with the 30 year old war and the conqueror era but i guess Finland has more history lol

Ancient Greece has its own page. Ottomans are separate. Byzantines fall under both Greece and Turkey but have their own stuff. Seljuks got a page, The Caliphate, Mongols, Timurids, Karakhanlis, Seleucids, Macedons, and the Romans are also separate. So yeah

If its in their own languages, different labguages have different amount of information per word.

Germany IS a young country though. It has only existed for about 200 years. Sweden is way older but has fewer words which is weird as they have a rich history. It all seems arbitrary according to how much the Wikipedia contributors can be bothered to go into details I guess.

+ as it seems this map shows the English Wikipedia pages "History of", not the ones in the native language, which might be bigger both due to language differences (some languages on average require more words to describe the same thing than others) and due to the fact that some local Wikipedia pages may contain more fact, because the local historians usually know their own history better, but might not know English well enough to write pages

I mean yea, Bosnia has very low words in history, but our History is way longer than 6448.

I’m surprised the UK’s one is so short. Even if you just go from the act of Union, it’s still one of the oldest countries in Europe.

The problem with the Balkans is that nobody is willing to write full essays. And they focus more on Yugoslavia then the medieval times and stuff. They're much longer in the native languages, too! Would you say Turkey is new?
