I miss the old lenovos, they were so repair friendly that all you need to do was unscrew two screws at the back and slide the case off, revealing all the components. It was also a bit bulky but that was for good ventilation and it never overheated. So intelligent and practical

I get to do about 3-8 of those repairs every week. Sometimes it’s not a palm rest swap but a keyboard that’s held into a metal plate that gets pushes through the key cap cutouts in the top cover, so you dismantle the whole laptop to take out 20 screws, swap the keyboard, then do the whole thing in reverse.

I’ve started keeping lap times for how quick I can do it per model of laptop / how it’s designed & assembled

i hate the keyboard/topcase fusion trend that's happened. my 2013 dell laptop has a keyboard that can pop out easily, but if i ever want to on my 2017 dell if a key goes bad i've gotta get a whole new topcase

Pro tip, make sure you decrypt bitlocker before attempting this repair. Not every laptop has a bios backup battery. All my tech fam know why.
