GREAT WHITE SHARK TASTES OUR BOAT!

A magnificent day at sea with our volunteers who help us collect data on our white shark population to aid our efforts in conserving them!

Seems we bit off more than we could chew! This gorgeous 4.8 meter female, white shark stayed with our boat for over an hour allowing us to take dorsal fin photos for our white shark identification project.

The excitement and adrenaline experienced being so close to such a magnificent animal is something that will stay with you forever!

This shark behaves like he's been fed from a boat.

Note to self....always have a boat that is WAY bigger than any great white shark you might encounter when you piss them off by teasing them with chunks of fish.

The problem is boaters have likely been baiting sharks in that area so they now associate boats with food and are not afraid to come right up. Usually great whites are pretty stand-off-ish and don’t mess with people unless there’s food involved. These people are just contributing to a future bad encounter with a shark.

What is scary is how huge they are but disappear almost instantly in the water.

I see chum in that white tote, plus bait floating on the surface. They were doing this on purpose, chumming for sharks in a tiny, little boat. DARWIN AWARD.
