The Ferrari 458 is one of the most beloved Ferraris ever made. It has a lot of potential to retain value and become a highly collectible car worth more than it's current value. However, there were a lot of options that Ferrari offered and those options can have a pretty significant impact on the value of the car, and it's desirability. So in this video, let's walk through some of these options, how they effect the value and how much it changes the interest on the secondary market.

I know it's not considered desirable but grigio silverstone was a must-color for me. Took a while (8 months) to find a car with that color and all the options I wanted. Great video.

You may have mentioned it, but the LED shift lights on the steering wheel was a must have when I searched for my car.

Fantastic and very informative video Dan. Options are a personal preference for each one of us. One of the biggest mistakes that Ferrari customers make, especially if they are planing to resell these cars, is to load them up with options and make them one of a kind. They never recover the $$$ they spend. On an average any option on resale adds back 1/10th of its original value on the selling price. Not to mention color combinations that only the owner and a few people care for. The 458 especially the Spider is a spectacular car to own and drive and not that hard in the owner's wallet. For 458 my must haves would be an axle lifter and either the Sport or Daytona seats. Personally I can deal with the carbon buckets, but my wife's back would make getting in and out of carbon seats a nightmare. I'm open to almost any paint color, I'd just have to see it in person in the sunlight. Interior color, I'm a traditional type, black or beige. A red interior is a hard no.

I think, with Ferrari, it is “we will offer you a boat-load of expensive options, so we can get even more of your money”. Let’s face it, the roads cars have always been there to fund their racing teams from day one. And now they have, ugh, shareholders who hold their hands out.

I know I am a strange one with this, but for me, red and side shields can only go on racing Ferraris.
So I specifically look to not have those options.
Also, I like dark colours (blue, black).

My Giallo Modena 458 has the basic audio, over the JBL. The easiest way to tell is: if you have an extra storage pocket next to the door speaker, it's base. If you don't have a pocket and you have the larger speaker grille, it's JBL. Ultimately, both kinda stink and I rarely turn the audio up that loud, since I'm not looking for high fidelity in a supercar, like I would be in a luxury car. What was clear about my car was that the initial owner really liked Alcantara + Carbon, as I have the Alcantara door armrest, carpet, and headliner with the leather + Alcantara rear deck, in addition to carbon wheel, carbon central bridge/console, carbon paddles, and carbon cluster ring. The carbon canards/blades were accessory items without option codes, I believe. My car has carbon ones.

The rarest accessory is the La Ferrari/458 Speciale carbon fiber console bridge ("shifter"), which is $5000 new today. I'm sourcing used OEM carbon A/C vents at the moment, and also contemplating that LaFerrari bridge.

Do you know the paint color for the gray-colored canards and diffuser on the Rossa Corsa cars? I have researched this forever and can’t find anything on it.
