Changing Landscape of Palliative Care Research

Prof Sonja McIlfatrick is Professor in Nursing and Palliative Care and
the Head of School of Nursing at Ulster University. In her role as the Head of Research for the AIIHPC she led the establishment of the All Ireland Palliative Care Research Network (PCRN). She is a Visiting Professor at universities in Slovenia, Japan and Australia. She has served on international research funding boards and is a member of the Marie Curie UK Research Committee. An honorary fellow of the RCSI and a UK Florence Nightingale Scholar, she is the President of the International Network of Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN). Her research interests include, palliative care in chronic illness, management of clinical symptoms; decision making at end of life; and public health approach to palliative care.
