For converting WAVs to FLACs, I use Freeac. It's free and open source software, and transfers all metadata to the new files by default. It supports a whole bunch of formats, such as MP3, Vorbis, OGG FLAC, WAV, AAC, Apple Lossless, etc. It even creates CUE files if you want it to do that. For tagging metadata, you can use MP3Tag on windows, or Kid3 on linux, they're both powerful software. I hope this helps out!

For the tag, try mp3tag, you can extract info from the filename and add tags more easly.

You can absolutely have album/artist/track/etc. metadata in a .wav container. Audacity for example can edit/save such metadata, and if you convert a track with existing metadata to .wav with ffmpeg (and many other tools), it will carry over that metadata into the .wav file. Put the track info there in the first place and then there's no need to manually tag files after conversion. (Also foobar2k will let you automatically pick up tags from filename/path when dealing with no existing tags, so there's really no reason to manually re-type that stuff.)

I've always been a fan over the years of dBpoweramp for the conversion side. It is payware, but is solid with a ton of options and codec support. Saved me a lot of headache with the Sync 2 system in my Ford vehicle where the only lossless format supported is WMA Lossless. dBpoweramp basically had zero issues doing a FLAC>WMAL conversion with tags maintained.

MediaMonkey has been the second piece of this puzzle for me for tag management, though since they've lost access to Amazon for auto/web tagging, it hasn't been AS useful. YMMV, but most of the third party tagging plugins for it have been buggy and unreliable. But for manual tagging it still works a treat.

hi, if I add a covert art to my flac files (i use a software called tag&rename) do i risk to lose any audio quality? I checked the file before and later with spek and seems just the same, only marginally bigger because of the added image.
I'm just afraid the file may sound different, so that's why i'm asking. thanks

Nice process, I recommend the ALAC format over FLAC - same lossless open source codec but with better device support, previously a closed format and originally developed by Apple I believe.
