FACTS - The scene where Barbie carefully balances on her tiptoes as she removes her heels, is a nod to the traditional Barbie doll's body molds. Before 2015, Barbie dolls were designed with feet that could only fit high heels, even if the doll didn't come with shoes or accessories, such as the beach-themed Barbie dolls. However, since then, Barbie Fashionista dolls were introduced with flat feet, allowing them to wear flat shoes.
By the way all the buzz about the perfectly arched feet being a body double is FALSE. Margot Robbie has confirmed it's all her, after about 8 takes and a bar to hold onto.

I did this all the time when I wasnt wearing heels, its so fun, and once you get the hang of it you won’t need any help like using a bar or holding someones hand, but be prepared for people to look at you funny 😂


Edit: This comment has gotten a lot of likes but the replies have made it aware that doing this position often/ life long can cause complications that will cause life long injuries/problems. Do NOT do this often, and don’t try doing this just cause people say its fun or cool or cause its from barbie
I only did this to help with wearing heels when going to cotillion, it was dress code to wear some sort of heel/wedged shoe and we’d be dancing/ on our feet like that for an hour and a half (and as a middle schooler, it was hell) so I did this as a way to feel more comfortable walking in heels for long periods of time, but just because I said it was fun and everyone liked it, doesn’t mean you should do it often, be aware of the risks, I didn’t know until the replies said something and I understand how this can be problematic to say on the internet.

Actually, this is NOT a fact. As a bit of a Barbie historian, Barbies flat feet have made a few appearances since the early 90s with their line of active Barbies. We had “Workin Out Barbie, Bicyclin Barbie, Olympic Gymnast Barbie, etc.” And then resurrected on and off through the 2000s starting with the 2nd wave of Cali Girl beach line dolls. Finally, come 2014-2015, we are introduced to a fashionista articulated body that introduced articulated feet and Barbies ability to wear flats, and now we have the favored queen of plastics pose abilities at skies the limit with Made to Move Barbie.

There was a wave of Barbie dolls in the mid 00's called Cali Girl where the dolls were given new foot molds. Not only were the feet almost flat (the heels were only slightly arched) but they had visible toes. Even after that line dissipated, Mattel made more dolls (mostly swimsuit dolls with those same type of feet) for a few more years.

Actually Hot Skating Barbie in the 90s had flat feet to fit the roller blades, that’s why those neon roller blades are the last link to the real world.

My favorite Barbie was in like 1997 and had flat feet's and could move her limbs very freely 💕 that was awesome.

Flat feet has existed since the 90s Superstar Era. You can also see it in the video. The most prominent Barbies with flat feet in the 90s are the sports themed ones, like the Olympics Barbies, WNBA Barbies, American University Cheerleader Barbies, Gymnastics Barbie, etc.. The fact that everyone freaked out upon seeing Barbie’s flat foot in he movie is a nod to real life Barbie collectors where they, most of the time, find the Flat feet Barbie dolls as unappealing.
